I begin my adventure here, assembling and painting a unit of Clanrats. The assembly of a Clanrat from the Island of Blood set is pretty straightforward
. Just to attach one arm to the body and glue on the base. I decided to not glue on the arm yet so I can paint each piece individually and glue everything at the end. I have no idea if that is what most people do, but that seemed the best way for me to get the parts that would otherwise be difficult to reach with a brush. I primed the entire model with the Army Painter uniform grey spray primer and proceeded to apply a base coat.For the base coat I started by painting all the flesh/fur parts with citadel Bestial Brown. The front of the face under the nose, the lips, and the tails are then painted with Elf Flesh. The upper cloaks are Scab Red and lower robes are painted with Rotting Flesh (not shown in pic). The shields are painted with Scorched Brown along with any belts or leather straps. Bandages around the feet are painted with Snakebite Leather and weapons/armor are done with Boltgun Metal. The teeth are touched with Bleach Bone and for the eyes I used Scorpion Green to show just how addicted these Clanrats are to Warpstone!
After the base coat dried, The next step was to apply a Gryphonne Sepia wash on the entire model to get the creases in
the figures nice and dark, it also puts a dirty/rusty tinge on the armor and weapons. I might end up putting a Devlan Mud wash on just the red cloaks because the Gryphonne Sepia didn't really make the folds in the cloaks as dark as I would have liked but it worked perfect on the face, tail and shiny bits.
